Fresh off the plane from Berlin, the German IM-X Delegation landed in Tokyo to participate in the Data Spaces Week 2024, an event organized by the International Open Forum on Data Society (IODS).
This trip to Japan marks a significant step toward fostering global partnerships and advancing the future of international and industrial data exchange. The Data Spaces event brings together key members from Japan and Europe to discuss and shape the future of the data society, with a focus on data spaces, regulations, governance, international approvals, standardization, cross-industry collaboration and trust frameworks – crucial components for building a connected global ecosystem.
Presentations featured updates on European projects such as Factory-X, Manufacturing-X and International Manufacturing-X, delivered by delegation members:

Other European initiatives such as Gaia-X, IDS, FIWARE, DAWEX, and Catena-X also presented their Status Reports.
And finally, 🎤 Marco Schuldt from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) delivered a keynote on Industrial Data Ecosystems.
The day concluded with the signing of an MoU in the elegant setting of the Yayoi Hall at the University of Tokyo.
After wrapping up the day with a dinner at the German embassy, the delegation’s journey in Tokyo continues tomorrow with their participation in the ICTM Global Conference.
