Last week, leading experts in Physical AI and PINN Model Data Standardization gathered in Changwon, South Korea, to advance the global dialogue on interoperable digital production. The conference brought together government representatives, research institutions, and industry leaders to align ongoing international standardization activities.
A key milestone of the event was the Memorandum of Understanding between the Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA) and Kyungnam University, laying the foundation for a new IDTA Research Hub in South Korea. The initiative aims to deepen cooperation on Asset Administration Shell (AAS)–based digital twin technologies, accelerate local adoption, and connect Korean pilot implementations to global communities.
IMXC Contributions
The International Manufacturing-X Council was represented by two speakers who highlighted the importance of global collaboration:
Dr. Dominik Rohrmus presented the vision for International Manufacturing-X and outlined pathways for Korean participation in global data-space and interoperability initiatives.
Dr. Seonhi Ro showcased Factory-X use cases and delivered an XR (Extended Reality) demonstration, illustrating how immersive technologies can support real-world implementations of interoperable production ecosystems.
Key Themes of the Conference
The program further highlighted:
Updates on Korean AAS pilot projects and their alignment with international work
Planned shared resources and knowledge exchange between regions
The formation of a Korean Industry Hub to strengthen industrial participation
Contributions from the Ministry of Science and ICT, LNI 4.0, NESTFIELD, and Seoul National University
For the International Manufacturing-X Council, these developments mark an important step toward globally interoperable digital production ecosystems. Aligning methods, data structures, and implementation approaches across continents is essential to ensure that companies and research institutions can:
Build compatible solutions
Avoid duplicated effort
Accelerate industrial transformation and adoption
IMXC will continue to follow the progress of the PINN initiative and support collaborative pathways that strengthen global interoperability and innovation.
