Global Collaboration for a Federated Manufacturing Future

Oct 27, 2025 | News

The International Manufacturing-X Council (IMXC) was prominently featured at the IOFDS Data Week 2025 in Tokyo – a global gathering focused on data sovereignty, trust, and collaboration in digital manufacturing.

Over several days, experts from Europe, Japan, and Asia met to exchange experiences and strengthen international cooperation on federated data ecosystems. The event demonstrated once again that the digital transformation of manufacturing is a truly global effort..

Showcasing International Collaboration

IMXC and Catena-X were highlighted as key examples of successful cross-border collaboration in the field of industrial data ecosystems.
The Data Society Alliance (DSA) – Japan’s largest IT organization – recognized IMXC and LNI 4.0 (Labs Network Industrie 4.0 e.V.) in its annual report, emphasizing the strength of German expertise in data interoperability and governance.

The IOFDS program will actively support the MX-Port initiative within the Manufacturing-X framework, aligning it with Japan’s Open DataSpace RAM (Reference Architecture Model) to ensure technical and semantic compatibility across ecosystems.

Human Networks for Data Networks

A special highlight of the event was the IMXC Showcase and XR demonstration, developed by LNI 4.0, which illustrated how industrial data and real-world applications come together to create measurable value. The feedback from international partners was overwhelmingly positive.

As the organizers aptly summarized: “Building a space of human relationships is the foundation for building a space of data.”

Next Steps

The IMXC will continue to expand its partnerships and align international standards and initiatives under the shared vision of federated, secure, and sustainable manufacturing.
By connecting global efforts such as Factory-X, Catena-X, and RRI Japan, the Council aims to accelerate the creation of a truly interoperable and trusted global manufacturing data ecosystem.
